FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SCHOOL HOURS: 8:10 AM WARNING BELL; SCHOOL
BEGINS AT 8:15 AM AND DISMISSAL IS AT 2:30 PM
Homework Requests:
This request should be made by 9:30 a.m. on the day of absence to allow teachers to gather other assignments from various teachers. Homework can be picked up in the office after 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM. Students who forget homework materials will NOT be allowed back in the building to get their work after that time.
Homework requests for days absent for a planned vacation should be discussed with the teachers. However, the teacher(s) will not be obligated to initiate arrangements with the student. Work will be offered to the student upon the return of the student to class.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up:
Please be aware that teacher supervision before school does NOT begin until 8:00AM. Therefore, no student should be dropped off before 8:00 AM. Students MUST check into the office if they are tardy. Not doing so will cause the office to call home reporting them as absent. The main parking lot and fire lanes are reserved for busses from 8:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Cars should not enter this area during these times. If you need to drop off or pick up a child between these hours, please park your car in the parking lot and escort the child to or from the building. NO MAPLESHADE STUDENT SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF OR PICKED UP IN THE BIRCHLAND PARK SCHOOL PARKING LOT!
Early Dismissal:
Students who are being dismissed before the end of the school day should bring a written request signed by a parent/guardian indicating the time of pick up and who is picking up the student.( A picture ID is required for someone other than (parent/guardian) This allows a teacher to give homework assignments before departure and allows the secretary to locate the student at the designated time of pick up without disturbing the class.
Special School Events:
A newsletter is created monthly to keep parents up to date with the various events occurring at Mapleshade School including what each grade level is doing in the classrooms.This newsletter goes home with your child each month. There is also the district wide calendar sent home at the beginning of the school year that contains information such as dates of marking periods, distribution of report cards, parent conferences and curriculum days, vacations periods, school hours, etc.
