FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SCHOOL HOURS: 8:10 AM WARNING BELL; SCHOOL
BEGINS AT 8:15 AM AND DISMISSAL IS AT 2:30 PM

Homework Requests:
This request should be made by 9:30 a.m. on the day of absence to allow teachers to gather other assignments from various teachers. Homework can be picked up in the office after 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM. Students who forget homework materials will  NOT be allowed back in the building to get their work after that time.

Homework  requests for days absent for a planned vacation should be discussed with the  teachers. However, the teacher(s) will not be obligated to initiate arrangements  with the student. Work will be offered to the student upon the return of the  student to class.

Student Drop Off and  Pick Up:

Please be aware that teacher supervision before  school does NOT begin  until 8:00AM. Therefore, no student should be dropped off before 8:00 AM. Students MUST check into the office if they  are tardy. Not doing so will cause the office to call home reporting them as  absent. The main parking lot and fire lanes are reserved for busses from 8:00 AM  and from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Cars should not enter this area during these times.  If you need to drop off or pick up a child between these hours, please park your car in the parking lot  and escort the child to or from the building. NO  MAPLESHADE STUDENT SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF OR PICKED UP IN THE BIRCHLAND PARK  SCHOOL PARKING LOT!

Early Dismissal:
Students  who are being dismissed before the end of the school day should bring a written  request signed by a parent/guardian indicating the time of pick up and who is  picking up the student.( A picture ID is required for someone other than (parent/guardian) This allows a teacher to give homework assignments before departure and allows the secretary to locate the student at the designated time of pick up without disturbing the class.

Special School Events:
A newsletter is created monthly to keep parents up to date with the various events occurring at Mapleshade School including what each grade level is doing
in the classrooms. This newsletter goes home with your child each month.
