Nov. 25- 1/2 day Dismissal 11:35
The most important success that we want to mention for this school year is the support that our Mapleshade parents have displayed for their child’s education and school. We have appreciated the great teamwork, funding initiatives and care displayed by our PTO, partnering with your school to meet its educational goals for the children. We recognized the efforts that were made to support our school’s playground grant the night of the Conservation Commission hearing. We notice your commitment, each day in the classroom, in making your child’s education a priority. And respect that parenting is very challenging and this year has been the best attendance and least amount of tardiness that we have experienced in 4 years! THANK YOU!
Perfect Attendance IncentivesEach year any child with perfect attendance and only 1 time tardy and/or 1 time dismissed receives a pizza party with the principal at the end of the year. We will continue this incentive. Additionally, this year, we have partnered with Horace Mann to give each child a bicycle that has perfect attendance, no times tardy and no times dismissed!
Math Night On Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 we will be conducting our third annual Math Night to help parents help their child with mathematics. We will be beginning this event with a presentation from our Superintendent and Curriculum Director to inform you about the changes to our mathematics curriculum and answer your questions. At 6:30 you will have a very beneficial opportunity to work with a teacher at your child’s grade level in understanding how math is taught to your child and how you can carry this work over in your home with them. The feedback from parents that attending this event has always been very positive.
Back by popular demand! Next Friday, October 23rd we will be starting Caring Cafe. When children are “caught caring” at school they are nominated for Caring Cafe, have lunch on the stage with the Principal on Fridays, and have their wonderful act of kindness and compassion presented to their peers. It’s the little things that impress me most about being an educator and this little event has been so important for the children.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Tuesday, October 20th is a half-day for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Dismissal: 11:35.
Student ID Badges / Cafeteria Cards
This week your child was issued a new ID badge that is also used as their lunch card. 4th and 5th grade students were issued a lanyard and the card is their responsibility. We have systems in place for organizing and storing these cards. Our third graders have a storage board in the cafeteria and a system for placing them there each day. If a card is lost we have only one backup. If the backup is lost we will charge $5.00 for it to be replaced.
